ESCWA Annual Report 2019

This year, UN-ESCWA wanted a design for their 2019 Annual Report with a storytelling approach. So they worked on the text with that in mind, to integrate most of the chapters as one compelling narrative. To couple that, I suggested to ESCWA team that I stylize the report as an illustrated classical novel, but with a modern intervention in the layout, and with more than 20 illustrations.
As for the theme of the report, "Advancing Equality", I illustrated a Jenga game for the cover, made of blocks of equal signs to convey that equality makes the structure of a healthy society, and any tampering with it would threaten to collapse the whole structure.
The color palette is limited, compared to last year's report; with a toned-down blue and an abundance of white space in the margins for a calming effect and to focus on the text and illustrations.
